House rules for the Refinds app

Last updated: 20 October 2026

The Dutch version of this text is the source. If the two versions differ in meaning, the Dutch version prevails.

These house rules apply to everything you post or share in the app yourself: photos of your finds, your display name, your profile picture and the lists you share with others. They sit alongside the terms and conditions.

They are short, because there is only one core rule: post only what is yours, and keep it pleasant for everyone.

1. Who this is for

2. What you may post

Photos of your own finds — what you bought, found or saw in a shop or at a market — and lists of shops and markets you want to visit or share.

3. What you may not post

The following content is not permitted and will be removed:

The same applies to your display name and your profile picture: no offensive, misleading or objectionable names or images, and not someone else’s name or likeness.

And for shared lists: do not use the list name or the collaboration to harass others.

4. Your photos and your rights

5. How we check

Every photo you share is automatically assessed before publication by an automated check for inappropriate content and for recognisable people who are the subject of the photo. Only then does it become visible. If it is rejected, it is not kept; you are told immediately that it did not work.

That check is not infallible. That is why there is also a report button, and why we keep an eye on things.

A lighter assessment applies to a profile picture: there we check only for inappropriate content, since a face is the whole point.

To limit abuse and unnecessary cost, daily limits apply to the number of uploads, reports and profile-picture changes.

In addition, Refinds decides, as editor, what belongs in the app: we may also refuse or remove a photo that breaks no rule, for example because it does not fit the shop or market; you are then briefly told why. See terms and conditions article 7.7.

6. Reporting and blocking

We look at every report. We tell the reporter what we do with it, and whoever’s content we take down hears why.

7. If you break the rules

Depending on what happened, we will:

For a first, minor breach we tell you first. For serious breaches — such as content that harms children, or illegal content — we act immediately and report it where the law requires.

In all cases we briefly tell you on what ground, and you can respond via the contact channels; see terms and conditions article 8.

8. Accepting these rules

When you create your account you accept the terms and conditions. Before you post a photo for the first time, we also ask you to accept these house rules and the photo licence in article 7.3 of the terms and conditions. We record which version you accepted and when. If the rules or the licence change materially, we ask again.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your account and everything belonging to it at any time, in the app via Profile › Delete account. That is immediate and permanent. See also privacy statement §5.6.

10. Contact

If you run into something the report button is not meant for — a question about your account, a complaint about how we handled a report, or something you would rather say outside the app — get in touch through the channels in Contact in the privacy statement. That can be by email, using the contact form or by telephone; we do not repeat the details here, so that two versions of them can never arise.

For content you believe does not belong in the app, the report button is the quickest route: see §6. If it concerns your copyright, image rights or trade mark, use the third-party rights notice procedure.
